Open Traffic School - Technical
Requirements
Is
our system "compatible" with
your system? Can you take our course with
a dialup connection? What type of browser can you
use? Do you need to
download any special software? Make sure your computer
won't make you
crazy during your e-learning traffic school experience
with us:
Dial-up connections - YES, you can use
a dial up connection! Our system
does NOT
require downloading any large multi-media
files, so don't worry if
you're on a dial-up connection.
At-work firewalls - YES, you can take
our California course from work!
(Does not apply to Texas and Nevada students.) We
have experienced very
few problems with corporate firewalls. In fact, many
of our customers take
our traffic ;school during lunch breaks. Making payments
using our secure
payment screens is sometimes blocked from corporate
firewalls.
NOTE: If you dial up to the internet from home but
are using a laptop and/or
dial up number provided to you by your employer, you
are still going through
the corporate firewall (through the virtual private
network).
Supported Browsers - Our course is optimized
for Microsoft's Internet
Explorer 6.x. To download a FREE copy of this browser,
visit
Microsoft's download page.
Although the system will operate, we do NOT provide
technical support the
following browsers:
Safari, Firefox,
AOL and Netscape.
Mac vs. PC - Our system likes PC computers
(such as Compaq, IBM, HP,
Dell and Sony) much better than Macintosh computers.
HOWEVER, if you're
using Mac OSX, our course will still operate efficiently.
Our e-learning system
is NOT compatible with earlier versions of Macintosh
OS and Linux.
Windows 98 users may encounter some "bugs"
in our course and secure
payment screens, but can still use our system safely.
There are many versions of the Microsoft Windows operating
system. You
may be using Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, or
another version.
To make sure you know which version is on your computer:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the box, type winver, and then click OK.
The window that appears will show you which version
of Windows your
computer is using.
Note: These instructions do not apply to Apple Macintosh
computers. To find
security information for Apple computers,
visit
the Apple security site.
Required Software - There is no required
software to take our online
traffic school. You can access and take our course
from any computer
connected to the Internet. Some of our course reference
materials
(which are OPTIONAL) require that you have Adobe’s
FREE Acrobat
Reader software.
Many Web browsers and computers already include a
version of Acrobat
Reader, so you may not have to download and install
it.
