Privacy Philosophy
Open Traffic School is committed to upholding the highest security
and privacy standards.
Open Traffic School believes that online privacy is crucial
for the ongoing success of the Internet as a service, commercial
and entertainment medium. We respect and protect your personally
identifiable information and do not use your information in
any manner not previously disclosed and accepted in our privacy
statement. We request personal information to make the user
experience of Open Traffic School easier and more satisfying
to our students. In registering or enrolling for our traffic
safety courses, students may be asked to provide personal information
such as name, mailing address, email address, zip code, gender
and other personally identifiable information. We request this
information from students so that we can provide personalized
services which are necessary in order to make our e-learning
courses an engaging and valuable service to our customers. However,
unless specifically designated by our students, the personally
identifiable information provided will be known only to the
student and to Open Traffic School. From time to time, Open
Traffic School may introduce new products and services offered
only by Open Traffic School.
What information does Open Traffic
School gather and how is it used?
Information gathered online can generally be categorized as
either anonymous or personally identifiable. Anonymous information
is information that cannot be traced back to a specific individual.
For example, Open Traffic School knows how many web surfers
have visited our Web site on a given day, but we do not know
the names, email addresses or gender of the people visiting
us.
Personally identifiable information is information provided
that tells specific facts about a user so that we can deliver
a specific service or course that has been requested. This information
can include name, address, zip code, age, etc.
Gathering and Use of Anonymous
Information
Each time a visitor comes to Open Traffic School, we collect
some information from the visitor to improve the overall quality
of the online experience, including product monitoring, product
improvement and targeted advertising. At Open Traffic School,
we collect the visitor's domain name (e.g. whether the user
is logged on from aol.com or earthlink.net), referral data (e.g.,
we record the address of the last URL a user visited prior to
clicking through to an Open Traffic School web site), and browser
and platform type (e.g., an Internet explorer browser on a NT
platform).
In addition to collecting these types of information, Open
Traffic School collects aggregate queries for internal reporting
and targeted advertising. We also count, track, and aggregate
the visitor's activity into our analyses of general traffic
flows at our sites (e.g. tracking where traffic comes from,
how traffic flows within the Open Traffic School properties,
etc.). To these ends, we may merge information about you into
group data, which may then be shared on an aggregated basis
with our advertisers or partners; but Open Traffic School will
not disclose your individual identity or personal data without
your permission. When Open Traffic School does present aggregated
information to outside companies, no one will be able to identify
or contact you.
Use Of Open Traffic School Cookies
Open Traffic School uses a cookie to store user’s login
name. A cookie is a small text file, stored in memory on the
user’s computer, that can be read by our system when the
user returns to our site. The cookies are encrypted and are
used to keep track of users as they move through our site and
our courses. Cookies provide users the ability to re-enter a
course without retyping a password and the ability to return
directly to the last accessed page in the course for a specific,
predetermined period of time. There are no functional differences
if the site is accessed and used with the cookies disabled.
Open Traffic School uses cookies to track traffic flow and patterns
of travel within and through the sites. Cookies are a standard
Internet technology that allow us to both store and retrieve
login information on a user's system.
Special Policy With Regard to Information
from Children Under Thirteen
In accordance with the Federal Children's Online Privacy
Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), Open Traffic School will never
knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone
under the age of 13 without parental consent. When we do receive
information (with parental consent) from users under the age
of 13, we will never voluntarily share their personally identifiable
information with third parties, regardless of their stated preference
given at registration.
Notification of Changes
If we make any changes to our privacy policy, we will post the
changes on our site so users are always aware of what information
we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any,
we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally
identifiable information in a manner different from that stated
at the time it was collected, we will notify our users via email.
Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information
in this different manner. Consent will be deemed to have been
given when we receive communication from a user in response
to our email. We will use information in accordance with the
privacy policy under which the information was collected.
Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may
need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein
we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to
comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or
legal process served on our Web site.
